It does not seem possible that we are already over halfway through May but this year has already got off to an amazing fundraising start, all thanks to you!

With so much uncertainty at the beginning of this year, like so many charities, we at the Royal Surrey Charity were not sure what the fundraising landscape looked like for the months ahead, but thanks to you and your incredible support we have still been able to continue our work to help deliver exceptional care for the patients here at Royal Surrey and during this difficult time to continue to help support our staff.

The difference your support makes

So far, this year you have supported:

  • Run the World for Royal Surrey

In March we were delighted to launch our first ever Virtual Running Challenge - Run the World for Royal Surrey.  This saw an incredible 175 people sign up to run or walk to help clock up miles to see how far around the world we could reach in just one month. By the end of March, together the Run the World team had travelled an incredible total distance of 21,084km and raised an incredible £4444.

With such positive feedback we hope to run a similar event like this again, so please look out for more later in the year. In the meantime, if this has inspired you and you would like to apply for one of our charity challenge event places in the Surrey Half Marathon, Brighton Marathon, Virtual London Marathon, London Marathon, Royal Parks Half Marathon or the Great South Run later this year, why not check out the Events section to find out more.

  • The Captain Tom 100 Challenge

April saw the launch of the Captain Tom 100 Challenge to celebrate what would have been Captain Tom's 101st birthday.  This was a lovely challenge that asked people to take on a challenge around the number 100 and "Do it their way"! The challenge could be walking 100 steps or running 100 metres, scoring 100 goals, baking 100 cakes, climbing 100 stairs, hopping 100 laps of the garden, building 100 sandcastles, writing a 100- word poem, flipping 100 pancakes.

Thank you to everyone who took part in this inspiring challenge celebrating Captain Tom’s generosity of spirit, the hope and joy he brought to millions, and his sense of fun, together you helped to raise over £1700.

Captain Toms’s simple message was a message of hope, thank you for your support and ensuring that “Tomorrow will be a good day!”.
