Royal Surrey County Hospital Charity is thrilled to have the support of the University of Surrey Site of Sir Robert McAlpine, a UK building and civil engineering company.

Over 150 staff based at a building project at the University of Surrey in Guildford have raised a fantastic £660, which will go directly to the hospital’s accident and emergency (A and E) department. In celebration of its 150th year, Sir Robert McAlpine is encouraging projects to identify and fundraise for local charities – and staff at the site are keen to continue the partnership until the project is complete.

John Fuller, Site Secretary at Sir Robert McAlpine, said: Sir Robert McAlpine and the University of Surrey – Block R project – is delighted with the money that has been raised by the operatives and staff here at Guildford. We wanted to fundraise for the charity as the site has had to use the A and E department a few times over the course of the project for minor injuries.

"We chose Royal Surrey County Hospital Charity because we wanted to support the NHS service and build a relationship with the people that are always helping others. We’re really excited about potentially working with the charity on an ongoing basis until the project completes.

Analiese Doctrove, Head of Fundraising at Royal Surrey County Hospital Charity, said:

"We’re so pleased to have the support of the Sir Robert McAlpine and the Block R project. Thank you to the team for raising a fantastic amount – it really will make a difference to patients at Royal Surrey who need access to care in an emergency."
