Now in its third year, Bid for Better has already provided funding to over 35 game-changing projects, directly improving patient care and outcomes.Read more Special Care Baby Unit redevelopment In 2021, our successful Closer to Care campaign led to the opening of the new Special Care Baby Unit at Royal Surrey County Hospital. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, including those who left gifts in their wills, the enhanced space allows parents of premature or sick babies to stay overnight, right next to their baby’s cot. This vital provision, one of the first in the UK, reduces distress for families, encourages bonding, builds parents' confidence, and supports breastfeeding.
