Bringing joy to patients: Pledge a Present appeal raises over £30,000!

Royal Surrey Charity is thrilled to announce the incredible success of our Pledge a Present appeal. Thanks to your support, a fantastic £30,000 was raised this past Christmas, ensuring that every patient spending the festive season in our hospitals received a thoughtful gift to brighten their day.

A huge thank you to everyone for embracing the true spirit of giving. Your kindness helped bring comfort and joy to our patients who could not be at home with their loved ones over Christmas.

In the days leading up to Christmas, over 600 gift bags were delivered to 19 wards and departments at Royal Surrey, as well as to our community hospitals in Haslemere and Milford. A huge thanks to our incredible HR and Quality Governance teams for helping us deliver the gifts to each ward, which the NHS staff handed out to patients on Christmas day.

Each gift bag contained items chosen to provide comfort, entertainment, and festive cheer. Patients received cosy essentials like hats, gloves, or socks, activities such as puzzle books, soothing toiletries, festive treats, and a Christmas cracker.

These gifts made a huge difference to our patients who spent Christmas at Royal Surrey and cheered them up. One such patient was Irene Barbey, she said:

“"My stay at Royal Surrey was very pleasant. Staff were lovely and helpful and made my Christmas enjoyable. The gift I received from Royal Surrey Charity made my day. Thank you!"”

As we celebrate the success of our appeal, we want to thank all businesses, community groups, community members, staff and patients for being part of something so special. 

Our Pledge a Present appeal extends beyond Christmas. Any additional funds raised above what is needed for the gifts support our patients and staff throughout the year.
