Donate now > No one wants to be in hospital at any time, but spending Christmas in hospital away from loved ones can be especially hard. Every year, Royal Surrey Charity delivers gift bags filled with useful treats to our patients spending Christmas in hospital away from loved ones. Last year, thanks to your support we delivered 600 gifts to those at the Royal Surrey, as well as our hospitals and patients in the community at Haslemere, Cranleigh and Milford. This makes a real difference to patients like Sylvia, who was admitted to Milford Community Hospital following a fall. She told us: My husband died a few days before Christmas. He was very ill and had dementia. I looked after him for about a year. They put him in palliative care and he passed away a few days later. I fell over a few days before his funeral and broke my hip and had to undergo a partial hip replacement. When Christmas Day arrived, I was a bit down, but the gift certainly cheered me up. A donation of £20 today could buy a gift bag filled with goodies for a patient who is spending Christmas in hospital, away from loved ones. Every gift bag contains: Something to wear like a pair of cosy socks to help keep a patient warm. Something to eat Such as a chocolate bar and sweets. Something to do Such as a puzzle book, notebook, pen and charity magazine. Toiletries Such as shower gel, deodorant and lip balm. A Christmas cracker How your donation could help* £10 could buy pairs of cosy socks to keep a patient warm. £20 could buy a gift bag filled with goodies for our patients.£60 could fund three gift bags for those spending Christmas away from loved ones.£120 could buy gifts for a whole room of patients on a ward. But the impact of your generosity also extends beyond Christmas. Any funds raised above and beyond the cost of the gifts will go towards supporting patients and staff in our hospitals all year round. This could mean funding state-of-the-art equipment or technology, enhancing the environment for patients and their loved ones, or supporting the wellbeing of our incredible NHS staff.
