Our Gary! Taken too soon, loved and respected by so many. Gary was a Husband, Dad, StepDad, Grandad, Brother, Uncle, Son and great friend and colleague to so many. He touched so many lives, with his sense of humour, his caring personality, his desire to help others, his love of family and friends. He had two real passions in life and they were travelling and horse racing - he was probably more successful at the former than the later! Gary worked all his adult life, predominantly in the concrete repair world and was well respected for his knowledge and experience, gaining many close friends along the way. Family was extremely important to Gary, Husband to Lyn, Dad to Danny, Lucy and Sam, and StepDad to Tammy, Dan and Simon. In more recent years he enjoyed becoming Grandad to an ever growing flock of little ones - Alfie, Ben, Tommy, Pearlie and Lottie. Gary loved family get togethers, bringing his extended family together for summertime BBQs, Christmas parties and also holidaying together when they could Gary and Lyn married in 2016 in Mauritius with all the family present to enjoy the wedding and the holiday that inevitably came with it! Gary was often heard to say that the highlight of that holiday was the horse racing - followed by a look from Lyn, before he changed it to say - the wedding of course! He leaves a huge gap in the lives of all those who knew and loved him, there will never be another character quite like him! Gary fought hard once he had received his cancer diagnosis, his wish was to have as long as possible with those he loved, sadly that was not to be and it was only 3 short months after the diagnosis that Gary was taken from us. During that time, Gary received amazing care and support from the Royal Surrey Hospital, from our local GP service at Shere Surgery and from Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care. The family have chosen Royal Surrey Hospital as their chosen Charity for donations in Garys name as Gary often said how impressed he was with the care and support he received on his many visits there. He said, they treated him like a VIP! In particular we would like to mention, St Lukes Cancer Centre and the Chilworth Ward where Gary was receiving chemotherapy treatment. Also on that final day, the A&E team and the Intensive Care team. The care given to Gary by all those on that final day was second to none and as a family, we are all so very grateful and would like to extend our thanks to everyone who not only looked after Gary but also us family members at such a sad time.
