In 2003, I was 6 weeks off of running the London Marathon.... I had trained for a year and was looking forward to the experience. Sadly, after having a running accident, a couple of operations on both my right ankle and then on my right knee, not to mention fracturing my coccyx, I came to the conclusion that it was unlikely that I would be able to ever complete this. Well 22 years on, at the age of 60, I have decided to WALK the London Marathon route. I am doing this on behalf of our great family and friends to show our love and support for our brother Roy who having gone through chemo for bowel cancer in 2023/2024 and given the all clear, has now developed cancer in his liver in 3 places and again in his bowel. Sadly they are not able to operate but he is having chemotherapy and excellent care under The Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford and as always, is as chirpy, kind and funny as ever.
Our father died of stomach cancer in 1999, our sister Jackie survived kidney cancer in 2023 and with Roy now about to endure further chemo on his body, I thought it was important to do something positive.
Please donate, however small to The Royal Surrey Cancer Centre, such a worthy charity.
If you are interested in joining me for part of the walk do let either Roy's son Karl or myself know. I will be doing the walk on Saturday 25 October 2025 starting at 7am in Blackheath, Incidentally, I have agreed to wear Roy’s Leeds United shirt for the walk even though I am more inclined to support Arsenal….!! The things we do for our brother!!!
Thank you all.

Love,
