A huge THANK YOU to everyone who sponsored me for my attempt at the Leith Hill Half Marathon on Sunday 17 March. I am truly humbled by the amount that you lovely people have donated to St Luke's Cancer Centre.

For the record, I completed the course in 2h 12m, which was a personal worst for me. However, it's not about the time: I had trained for a flat race at Wokingham before an injury, and my training in the last few weeks was not "optimal". I am pleased to have made it round in one piece.

I remain extremely grateful to everyone at St Luke's Cancer Centre, in both the chemotherapy and radiotherapy departments, and in the Onslow Ward for my overnight stay. It was a grim journey, but I was in very good hands. Thank you to everyone there. MATTHEW SEARS
