It's been less than three months since we launched our Covid-19 emergency appeal and we have been bowled over by your kindness.

Thanks to you, close to £300,000 has been raised for the appeal, which was set up to support frontline staff in the fight against the virus. Despite lockdown, we've had a record number of fundraisers take on challenges, as well as emails and messages pouring in with offers of donations or help.

This extraordinary response has meant we have been able to support staff at this extremely challenging time, and will continue to do so once the pandemic is over.

The difference your support makes

Your generosity has allowed us to provide delicious hot meals for staff to enjoy during or after a shift. This has made a huge impact, especially when the virus was at its peak and staff, who were working long hours, were unable to get to supermarkets or once there, were faced with empty shelves. As Senior Sister of our Older People's Unit, Laura Taylor explains:

The generosity of people has been amazing. On a day when you’ve been rushed off your feet, or you’re feeling emotionally drained, and it’s just a simple meal offer, or some chocolate or a biscuit – just something so simple. It doesn’t cost loads but for the impact it has, it’s so worth it. It means a lot to the staff here. We’re just so grateful for all the support.

You've also made it possible for us to fund tablets for each ward, so that staff and patients are able to stay to connected with loved ones at home.

We're working closely with staff to ensure every penny that is spent supports their health and wellbeing, and helps them provide exceptional care. We have some exciting projects on the horizon and we can't wait to update you all soon.

Thank you for making all of this possible.
